#ToxicPositivity

Scary times at the mo for us Melbournians, huh? I had a coronavirus test yesterday cause my boyfriend was feeling flu-y so we went together ... and now we're both self isolating until we get our results. It's super stressful! We've had to put a plan in place for if 1 or both us test positive.

It got me thinking about how much people with a disability, the elderly, carers, parents ... must all be struggling big time. My boyfriend and I are 2 able bodied, childless adults and even WE are having anxiety at the thought of having to arrange for our greyhound Eric to stay with someone else if the worst happens and we test positive. I literally cry thinking about how much I will miss Eric, and how much I'll end up hating my boyfriend without having Eric as a buffer.

Imagine that AND the stress of being unemployed? Ugh - I can't. I feel for the people currently looking for work, supporting a family, caring for someone who is unwell or just generally struggling with the idea of staying indoors. It sucks balls, and it's fucked and shitty.

I was chatting to a client tonight about #toxicpositivity and how much I've seen out there recently. I'm fucking sick of people pretending there isn't a pandemic happening right now, and that everything is peachy keen? People obnoxiously sharing how they are thriving and loving iso. I mean - good on them ... but makes ya feel like shit if you're also not feeling the same way ...

Be real - this pandemic is absolute shite. Yes some days I actually do love the solitude of it all ... and yes there are many silver linings that may come from it (and believe me I am the QUEEN of silver linings), but for now I'd love to see more posts about how shitty this all is and bask in the negativity of it all. In doing that, I feel more connected to society knowing that others out there are feeling the same as me and we can all feel shitty together 💕
